Supporting Reforms in the TVET Sector in Kenya: Learning from Best Practices in Swiss TVET Training Model

The Swiss Ambassador to Kenya Dr. Ralf, Swiss Minister for Economic Affairs Marie Gabrellie, Deputy Director TVET Stanley Maindi & Head of Buhler East Africa Mathias Grabe during a visit of the Swiss Trade Delegation to the African Milling School in Ruiru today. Mr Maindi represented the PS VTT Dr. Kevit Desai and Director General KNQA Dr. Juma Mukhwana in the meeting.Also present was a re knowned Kenyan Industrialist Bimal Shah who Challenged TVET sector to come out and reach out to industry to support the TVET sector in Kenya.

Proposed Interventions during the visit included:

  1. The Swiss Business delegation was requested to support rebranding and involvement of industry in TVET Training in Kenya.
  2. Establishment of exchange programmes, Linkages and collaborations between Kenyan TVET policy makers and Swiss TVET stakeholders to learn and document best practices from the Swiss TVET sector that their Kenyan counterparts can learn from and apply to the Kenyan situation.
