Management

Stanley Maindi is an accomplished and result driven Educationist turned career civil servant, possessing over 25 years of experience in Technical, administrative and organizational skills. He is currently the Director Technical Services(DTS), KNQA having also served as a Deputy Director and HOD in charge of Planning Research, Outreach and Policy and Deputy Director, TVET Directorate of Technical Education. Prior to joining KNQA, he served as the personal Assistant and Technical Advisor to PS, State Department of Vocational and Technical Training. He has also served as a Chief Officer in Kakamega County Departments of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Public Service &Administration and Department of Education, Science and Technology. He has also served as lecturer at Kisii University and PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute.

Maindi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology from Moi University, Master of Business Administration from the University of Nairobi and currently a PhD student in Strategic Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT). He has attended several courses both locally and internationally including: Senior Management Course( SMC) and Senior Leadership Development Programme(SLDP)(Kenya School of Gorvenment); Advanced certificate in Developing Technical Education to Meet the MDGs ( Chennai India);Vocational Training Curriculum Planning for Kenya (Republic of Korea);Coordinator Training for Tertiary Education – Industry – Government (T-I-G) Link to Develop Local Industry (Toyohash University of Technology, Japan); Youth Business Initiatiation,Kenya(Peoples Republic of China);Project planning management(ESAMI-Tanzania) among others; 

Maindi is Chair to various Committees including; RPL National Steering Committee(NSC);Human Resources Advisory Committee(HRAC); ISO Certification Committee;KNQA Council Secretariat ; the National CBET Conference Organising Committee ;Editorial Team of the KNQA Margazine, ‘the Harmonizer’;PC Implementation Committee and amember of the Technical Working Group(TWG) a committe of the Inter University Council of East Africa(IUCEA) on Harmonization of TVET Qualifications in the 3 EASTRIP Countries, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania. He is a member of the Institution of Engineering Technicians & Technologists(IET).

James Tegeret, is the acting Deputy Director Registration Accreditation and Documentation (RAD). He holds a Bachelor of Education (Technology Education) Degree from Moi University. He has vast experience in teaching having taught for over 24 years in various institutions where he rose to the rank of a Deputy Principal. He later joined the Directorate of Technical Education in the Ministry of Education as Deputy Director, Technical Education. Tegeret has attended Strategic Leadership Development Program course and is a member of the Institute of Engineering Technologist and Technicians (IET).

CPA Michael Njogu is the Internal Auditor in the Internal Audit department with a major role in; Internal Controls, Risk management and Corporate governance. His professional qualification includes Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has a vast experience in finance, accounting, tax consultancy and auditing in various sectors. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya(ICPAK) and Institute of Internal Auditors(IIA).

Sharon Muthoni Muthuri is the Legal Officer in the Legal Affairs Department. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and currently undergoing a Post Graduate Diploma in Law and Certified Secretaries. Sharon has a vast experience in Law having worked for several organizations including: – TVET CDACC- Legal Assistant, The Jubilee Insurance Company of Kenya Limited- Legal Assistant and Relationship Manager, The Court of Appeal of Kenya in Nairobi- Legal Researcher and The Office of the Attorney General- Pupil.

Anne Rita Mwaniki is the Human Resource and Administration Manager at KNQA. She is a Seasoned Human Resource Practitioner with over twelve years of active experience. An Outstanding Performer in Talent Management within Private and Public sectors. Proven success in leadership, operational excellence and organizational development with keen understanding of elements in People and Culture Management. Recognized for inspiring management team members to excel and encouraging creative work environments. She processes an array of skills including, Human Resources development, Human resources administration, Human resource laws, Staffing Resource Management, Human relations skills, Eloquent, Broadminded and Cosmopolitan. She is a member of Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), (2007) to date.

Vincent Koech is the Deputy Director Kenya National Leaners Record Database (KNLRD) and also the Head of ICT at KNQA. He holds an MSc. in Computer from UoN and BSc. ICT from JKUAT. With over 15 years’ experience in the field of ICT, his professional career development includes MCITP, CCNA, QMS, ISMS, M&E & ToT.  In the ICT Department he is tasked with the management of hardware, software, systems, networks, databases, firewalls and cloud services. He is a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and has taught at several Universities including JKUAT, TUK, MKU and Kisii University. He spends most of his time strategizing around Artificial Intelligence, BIG Data, Block chain Technology, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things.

Dr. Alice Kande is the Deputy Director in charge of Planning, Research, Outreach and Policy at KNQA.  She holds a doctorate degree in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Master’s in Business Administration and Bachelor of Education both from Kenyatta University. Alice is a member of the Kenya Institute of Management and Academy of International Business – SSA Chapter. Prior to joining KNQA, Alice was a Senior Research Officer at the Commission for University Education. She has also previously taught at Riara University School of Business and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Dr. Winnie Bulimo is the Deputy Director in charge of Standards Assessment and Quality Assurance (SAQA) at KNQA.  She holds a doctorate degree in Educational Planning and Management from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, a Masters in Educational Planning and Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Dr. Bulimo is a member of Education Management Society of Kenya. Prior to joining KNQA, Dr. Bulimo worked as a Regional Training Coordinator at Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) and later joined TVET sector and served at the position of Deputy Director Technical Education.

Dr. Juma Mukhwana was appointed as the first Director General of The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) on 6^th August 2018. Dr Mukhwana has worked in the Agriculture and higher education sectors in the NGO, University and Educational sectors both locally and internationally. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (1993) and M.Sc. in Pharmacology and Toxicology (1995) both from the University Of Nairobi, Kenya, and a PhD in Soil Science from the University of Wyoming in the USA.

He has worked in top management either as a CEO, and/or Deputy CEO in the public and private sectors for over 20 years. Between 2011 and 2013, he worked as a Senior Lecturer and Chairman of the Department of Land and Water Management (and Acting Dean, School of Agriculture), University of Embu. From 2013 to 2017 he served as the Deputy Commission Secretary/Deputy CEO at the Commission for University Education in Kenya; in charge of Planning, Research and Development. Since 2018 he has been working as the founding Director of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) where he has been instrumental in operationalizing and implementing the Kenya National Qualifications Framework. He has also worked as an expert during the development of the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF), and is currently working with the Government of Lesotho to Develop national policies on Recognition of Prior Learning and the national Credit Accumulation and Transfer system. Dr Mukhwana is also supporting IGAD to develop the IGAD Regional Qualifications Framework. Dr Mukhwana is an accomplished Leader and Researcher in Higher education in Africa.  He has received many national and international awards for his work in improving Agriculture and Higher Education in Africa.
